How does our decision to operate independently of insurance benefit you?
Most insurance companies will limit the number of sessions that someone is able to receive. Also when working with insurance oftentimes more information is released to them in order to justify the medical necessity for services.
How might I get reimbursed through my insurance?
We are out of network with all insurances, but our electronic health record automatically generates a superbill each month that you can print and submit for out of network reimbursement. Each insurance has different rates of reimbursement so I always encourage people to call the 800 number on the back of your insurance card and ask what that would be for you.
What is the fee?
The fees vary according to each therapist's years of experience and training. All of our therapists have taken specialized training to serve you, and we want to provide services that fit people’s financial needs. Since therapy is such a personal process we strongly encourage you to book free consults with multiple therapist options so you can decide who is the best fit for you.
How does therapy work? How often will I expect to go?
Usually therapy starts out 1x a week. As you are learning and practicing the skills and you are starting to feel better, we decrease our session to once every other week and then once a month. If due to finances or scheduling we need to meet less often we can do that too, change will still happen it just may take a little longer. We want you to feel comfortable committing to this journey together so we will work with you around your needs.
Can I come in person and/or have virtual appointments?
We see clients both in person in Santa Barbara and virtually throughout the state of California. We find that local clients enjoy the in person services. For some it's easier to jump on a virtual appointment from home (often during a baby’s nap time or between work meetings). You can do a combination of both throughout our work together depending on your scheduling needs.
Can I bring my baby? Can I nurse/pump in session?
Yes, yes and yes! You are our people and we welcome you to come as you are. We understand that oftentimes new parents want or need to bring their babies with them. We are here to support you while you are supporting your little one. Please feel free to care for your baby throughout our session (nursing, pumping, etc) however you feel most comfortable. Once your little one starts being mobile then we find it becomes more difficult and we often suggest coordinating childcare or scheduling virtual sessions during naps times.
What is The Gottman Method?
Gottman Training is a therapeutic approach developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, grounded in over 40 years of research on relationships and couples therapy. It focuses on improving relationship satisfaction by addressing communication, conflict resolution, emotional connection, and creating shared meaning. All the therapists on our team have begun this prestigious training process.
How is The Gottman Method beneficial?
1. Improved Communication: The Gottman method teaches couples effective communication techniques, helping them express feelings and needs openly, without escalating into conflict.
2. Conflict Resolution: Patients learn strategies to manage and resolve disagreements constructively, fostering understanding rather than resentment.
3. Building Emotional Connection: Gottman training emphasizes emotional attunement, teaching couples how to deepen their bond by showing affection, respect, and empathy.
4. Enhancing Relationship Satisfaction: With tools for understanding each other's needs and improving emotional intimacy, couples often report a greater sense of happiness and satisfaction in their relationships.
5. Research-Based Approach: As a scientifically backed method, Gottman training provides therapists and couples with proven tools and techniques, offering confidence in the treatment process.
This approach benefits not only couples experiencing difficulties but also those looking to strengthen their relationship and foster long-term success.
We are proud to say that all therapists on our team are Gottman trained
